We Need You To Pray For Us . . .
We need you to pray for our leaders, missionary staff and volunteers! Yes, we desperately need donations, but prayer is the currency of our ministry among the poor. I know that we cannot pay our utility bills and other expenses with words uttered while upon our knees. However, I have learned that we cannot pay for the things that we need without prayer.
Many see ministry to the poor as a nice social response to the needs of the less fortunate and fail to realize that ministry to the poor draws intense spiritual warfare. Please allow me to explain. Poverty is one of Satan's most effective weapons of mass destruction. It has a trans-generational and multicultural reach without boundaries or prejudice. However, Satan pays a very high price to keep those created in the image of God bound in the cruel chains of poverty. Why does the devil devote so much of his resources to poverty? Because, it brings a very high return on his investment.
In plain English, keeping folks poor is very costly and Satan has to invest his resources to continue these expensive dark exploits. Just like we must have assets to do our Lord's work among the poor, Satan has to find the financial means needed to maintain people in his dark pit of poverty. Just think, to keep one man in prison for a year it costs an average of $31,000 and even more for a woman; for a child it is upward of $70,000. Drug habits cost most addicts from $25.00 — $200.00 a day and can exceed one's imagination.
It is hard to comprehend poverty being so expensive. It is even more difficult to grasp the truth that it is less costly to lift and redeem the needy from the grip of destitution than it is to fund hopelessness with our apathy. When we lead a person to Christ from Satan's pricey web of destitution and he/she finds his/her place in society, we are decimating his bottom line. He has spent hundred's of thousands of dollars just to keep one person addicted, depressed, homeless and/or incarcerated. When we begin to pull these poor souls from Satan's grip, we are plundering hell and sorely affecting his treasury.
Satan attacks our work among the poor most vehemently. He fights our ministry as an organization, and he plays havoc on those individuals who serve to bring help, hope and healing to those suffering under the constant grind of poverty. We need people that will stand in the gap and fight the good fight in prayer.
We desperately need you to pray for us!
